Understand and melt inner obstacles

Become whole

Dr Adi Hannah Sela

I am a counselling psychologist forming meaningful and healing relationships with clients and working collaboratively and creatively to meet clients’ needs.

I believe in the importance of living the life we want to live, and that psychological distress happens when we find ourselves living a life that isn’t true to our values.

I believe this is often because we are in an everlasting battle in our minds and struggle to be present in the world.

To me, healing happens when we can compassionately understand and then melt away those obstacles (whether they are from within us or from outside influences).

  • I work integratively, drawing on a variety of modalities and techniques. These include Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Schema Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

  • I work with individuals and couples.

I specialise in Eating Disorders, OCD, Personality Disorders. Simply put, I specialise in issues of control and long standing dificulties.

  • Expression of emotion is key to psychological growth. Therefore, in addition to talking, I use tools from gestalt and art therapies to facilitate catharsis and insight.

    1. Assessment: 1-3 sessions to get to know you and the reason you are coming to therapy.

    2. Formulation: following assessment, I devise a diagrammatic formulation to capture my understanding of the presenting problem, including its origins and what is currently contributing to stuckness. In the formulation session, we will tweak it until it resonates, and from then on it will serve as our preliminary treatment plan.

    3. Treatment: the duration of treatment will depend on the formulation and your goals. I review progress every 6 sessions.

    4. Ending: 2+ sessions to wrap up our work, set up a plan to maintain your progress and prevent relapse, and say our goodbyes.

  • I hold sessions in person in Central London and online. Each session can last between 50-80 minutes, depending on your needs. I offer weekly sessions, and can accommodate to fortnightly or biweekly appointments.

  • I am an HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist, qualified since 2021. Prior to that, I was a CBT therapist since 2017. I have over 7 years of experience providing psychotherapy.

I attained my Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of East London.

  • I offer a free 30 minute telephone or video consultation to see if this could be a match.

Otherwise, my rate is £130 per session for therapy with individuals, and £230 per session for therapy with couples.

I offer reduced fees for trainee counselling psychologists.
